Daric, you can't...

"I can't do this..."
"I can't do that..."
"It's just impossible."

If you are human, you have heard these things said before. And, if you're at all like me, you've probably said them a hundred thousand, million times yourself. I thought it rather appropriate to write my first post on this blog about a subject that means a lot to me personally, just to set the tone and direction for this endeavor. We are all incredibly different people, nothing has made this more apparent today than the existence of the Internet, and as we digest and diffuse the constant streams of information at our fingertips, I think we should all try to remember one thing: We are humans, and we are flawed.

There are honestly a LOT of things that I can not do, things that I have absolutely no control over, and things that just don't make any reasonable sense. I struggle with this. The way that I was raised makes me strive toward independence and pride that refuses to let me accept aid from anyone else, and asking for help is certainly out of the question completely. So, because of this, when I came to Christ and found salvation, I had to literally go against my nature in order to submit myself to Christ and ask for forgiveness and aid from Him. This was truly a difficult pill to swallow.

I continually told myself "Daric, you can't do this. It's just not you." and "You will never really succeed in your Christian walk because you can't give up control of your own life." Now, I want those of you reading this to understand one thing about me before Christ: I was an anal-retentive, OCD stickler and I constantly had to be in control of things. I thought that I could handle everything and I thought that I was the master of my own destiny, whether good or bad. And that mentality proved to be true as my life fell apart all around me.

Long story short: A full 18 months later, I am still climbing back from the holes I dug for myself.

During all of this, however, I realized one thing. (And I mean, fully realized, fully believed, and fully understood) God can do anything. For every little thing that I CAN'T do, God CAN do 1,000 more. I'll ask you now, how many times have you tried to make things work out, tried and tried and tried your best, and still everything just doesn't go how you want it to or how it's "supposed" to? Take a minute with yourself and truly try to figure out the answer to that question. How many times?

The lesson in all of this jibberish is this: JOB 22:21
"Submit to God and be at peace with Him; in this way prosperity will come to you."

There it is, directly from the Bible, directly from the word of Truth. SUBMIT TO GOD... and you will be prosperous. It really does sound so incredibly simple, so impossibly simple in fact. It can't be that easy... can it?

We are humans, and we are flawed, and there are tons of things that we can not do alone. Once we are fully with God, however, we can not be stopped. Don't believe me? Here's some more truth for you to consider:

ROMANS 8:31
"What then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

All of these things that we can't do, God can. Give them over to Him. Let God be for you, and nothing will be against you. That's just simple truth, written long ago, and it still pertains to today, to right now, this very moment. Give it all to God, give all that you are, all that you were, and all that you can be over to God, and let Him be in control. Then, watch as what you couldn't do becomes what you just did.

Amen.
